Eddie Jones takes on role at San Diego Legion

England head coach Eddie Jones will be taking on a new consulting role with Major League Rugby’s San Diego Legion, according to a report in theguardian.com.

The observation of his duties will be subject to England’s requirements as well as Covid-19 regulations.

“Obviously England remains Eddie’s priority,” said Darren Gardner, co-owner of the franchise.

“But he will be having input into our systems and processes that we’ve built. He’s going to spend some time in the US where he’ll get to interact with the coaches and the players and, from a community perspective, help us with some development of our academy and the things we’re doing there.”

San Diego boast a number of high-profile names in their ranks, including the likes of All Black centre Ma’a Nonu and former England captain Chris Robshaw.

“Chris is a huge supporter and advocate of Eddie,” Gardner said, “And he was aware that this is something we were going do. We’re all speaking regularly, he’s excited, we’ve made him a surfboard and we plan on getting him in the water as soon as he gets here.”
