David Havili to remain a Crusader until 2023

The Crusaders have announced that backline player David Havili will remain at the club until 2023, according to a report in Stuff.co.nz.

Havili, 26, cited the opportunity for more All Black caps as well as making it to 100 Crusaders caps as top reasons for staying on after a string of overseas offers have flooded in.

“I didn’t want to have any regrets when I finish playing. I just wanted to give myself every opportunity to get the most out of NZ Rugby, I think I've got a lot more to add,” Havili said.

“I had some pretty good offers in Japan. But I’m still pretty young, I’ve still got higher aspirations...I had to take a couple of weeks to decide on what I really wanted to do.”

Havili took the time to compile a Pros & Cons list to aid him in reaching a final decision and admitted it was a “no-brainer” after that.

“Anyone in NZ Rugby, if you're here [the All Blacks are] the ultimate goal, and that’s no different for me. I want to get back into that All Blacks jersey and I couldn't do that overseas,” he said.
