Currie Cup Round Up
- 1021
This weekend saw 4 teams battle it out for a spot in the final of the Currie Cup, with Cheetahs and Blue Bulls coming out on top as they beat Golden Lions and Western Province, respectively.
The Bulls managed a last minute match-winning try to seal a deserved 36-30 over Western Province, as the Cheetahs were patiently waiting after a 55-17 win over the Lions, completely outplaying the defending champions with some great running rugby.
The upcoming Currie Cup final will mark the first time the teams meet in the grand finale since 2009 when Blue Bulls lifted the trophy in a pulsating match. Should they carry their winning spirit into this year's final, it would mark their 24th overall title.
The Cheetahs, on the other hand, will be looking to make a perfect 10/10 win, having won nine in a row in the competition, cementing their name as this season's most successful team.
The final will take place this coming Saturday at the Free State Stadium.
