Conor Murray's Test Debut That Earned Him A Spot In Ireland's 2011 World Cup Squad

It has been nine years since Conor Murray first took the field for Ireland and, since then, has never looked back.

Dependable, intelligent and particularly deadly around the fringes, the Munster scrumhalf quickly rose as a favourite amongst the Irish fans.

His first cap lasted only 20 minutes – a World Cup warm-up game against the French in which both coaches were tinkering with combinations before the grand tournament got underway.

Ireland came away on the wrong side of the scoreboard in the match (19-12), however, put together an impressive World Cup campaign later on, most notably, a superb victory over Australia in the pool stages.

Murray’s debut was solid. While it would’ve been intriguing for him to have put in a showing of his sniping skills around the rucks, he opted for a more conservative approach, putting to good use his wonderful distribution.

Murray has since won 81 caps for Ireland and 5 for the British & Irish Lions.
