Combined XV: Stormers v La Rochelle

Combined XV: Stormers v La Rochelle

A windy day down in Cape Town produced a thrilling match between Two-time defending champions La Rochelle and the South African based side Stormers. La Rochelle found their fighting spirit after being down 13-0 at halftime to comeback and win the game 21-22. The Stormers scored a late 79th minute try to bring the score to 21-22 but a strong wind denied Mannie Libbok the chance to convert the winning kick.

We’ve put together a combined XV based purely on the stats of each player for this fixture, respectively. The stats considered are metres gained, defenders beaten, line-breaks, passes, offloads, tackles, and turnovers. Naturally, in certain positions certain stats may take precedence, such as a winger, the number of metres gained, line-breaks and defenders beaten would take precedence over tackles and turnovers.

  1. Louis Penverne
  2. Silalotu Latu
  3. Uini Atonio
  4. Salmaan Moerat
  5. Will Skelton
  6. Judicael Cancoriet
  7. Levani Botia
  8. Greg Alldritt
  9. Tawera Kerr-Barlow
  10. Manie Libbok
  11. Dillyn Leyds
  12. Damian Willemse
  13. Dan du Plessis
  14. Suleiman Hartzenberg
  15. Warrick Gelant

The La Rochelle forwards were dominant but it’s also unfortunate that a few of the Stormers forwards were forced off early due to injuries. In the backline the Stormers certainly stole the show but unfortunately couldn’t win the game.
