Chiefs edge out Reds in top-of-the-table clash

The Queensland Reds have fallen 27-15 to the Chiefs in a downpour in Hamilton tonight in their top-of-the-table clash in SMARTECH Super Rugby Pacific.

The match was 10-all at half-time and in the balance until the 70th minute in a gripping contest between the leading sides on each side of the Tasman. The Chiefs take over at the head of the table with the win.

The arm-wrestle finished three tries apiece with the five-from-five goalkicking of All Blacks flyhalf Damian McKenzie proving the difference on the scoreboard.

Flanker Joe Brial, who chased through 35m for his own try just before half-time, halfback Tate McDermott, No.8 Harry Wilson and lineout leader Josh Canham were standouts for the Reds.
