Cherry & Whites to battle Wasps at Kingsholm
- 1428
After their fixture against Worcester was cancelled last weekend, there will be some extra juice in the legs of the Gloucester boys as they host Wasps at Kingsholm.
Wasps had the better of Falcons last weekend, albeit not by much:
Gloucester’s last action was against Sale Sharks – a result they were keen to redeem in Round 21:
Gloucester could, theoretically, leap-frog both Sale and Exeter and jump into 4th spot on the overall standings and can thus be expected to pull out all the stops on their home turf this round. Wasps, meanwhile, find themselves in the bottom-half of the table and have some climbing to do which will no doubt fuel their effort.
The last time the teams met was in Round 9, where Gloucester managed to sneak past their opponents by two points:
Gloucester boss George Skivington had the following to say ahead of the match:
“Wasps had a good result against Newcastle. A tight game, but they battled through and won it. They are a good outfit and they’ve got some good coaches and I think they are a real threat.
“From our point of view, we are focused on ourselves. We know the bits we’ve got to push hard on and the bits we’ve got to work on and we’re focused on getting right what we can and obviously nullifying Wasps’ threats.
“We haven’t been here in what feels like forever so we’re really excited to get back here and hopefully everyone gets here and screams loud and the boys will give you all something to be proud of.”
