Champions Cup waiting on sponsors

Just four weeks from the start of the inaugural European Rugby Champions Cup, the tournament is yet to have any of its five major sponsors in place.



Premiership Rugby chief executive Mark McCafferty, instrumental in helping form Europe's new set-up, said not all five main partner deals will be complete when the competition kicks off on October 17.

It is a marked change from the Heineken Cup, which had a title sponsor, with the new competition instead favouring a Champions League style model.
