EPC Rugby pick out some key statistics from last weekend’s Heineken Champions Cup games.

3: All three Irish provinces (Leinster Rugby, Munster Rugby and Ulster Rugby) currently sit top of their respective pools and can all qualify together for the first time since the 2011/12 season. 

5: Not only did Will Addison chip in with the boot in Ulster’s 26-22 triumph over Racing 92, the centre also caught the eye with five offloads, topping the category in Round 5. 

8: Two-time champions Saracens have reached the knockout stage for the eighth consecutive season after their bonus-point win in Lyon. 

22: Lyon’s Noa Nakaitaci led the way in terms of carries in Round 5 with 22 but his efforts were in vain as the French side were beaten 28-10 by Saracens. 





23: Toulouse’s Rynhard Elstadt made a staggering 23 tackles in his side’s 29-13 defeat against Leinster and is now tied with Ulster back-rower Marcell Coetzee on 96 overall in the tournament. 

39: Springbok Cheslin Kolbe has beaten more defenders than anyone else this season with 39 after eluding 13 in Round 5, the same as Thibault Regard. 

59: Munster’s Joey Carbery’s inspired performance against Gloucester Rugby last Friday night, in which he amassed 26 points, has sent him to the top of the ‘points scored’ chart with 59 to date. 

139: Wing Jack Nowell returned from a three-month lay-off to head Round 5’s ‘metres made’ table with 139 in Exeter Chiefs’ 34-12 home success over Castres Olympique.
