EPC Rugby picked out some interesting statistics from last weekend’s European Rugby Challenge Cup games.
5 – Harlequins back-row forward Alex Dombrandt added to his growing reputation by leading the turnover count for Round 5 in Quins’ 38-20 win over Grenoble and now has the joint most this season with Pau scrum-half Julien Blanc (6).
6 – ASM Clermont Auvergne full-back Peter Betham and Sale Sharks No.15 Chris Ashton are the Challenge Cup’s joint leading try-scorers this season after their Round 5 efforts. Betham also tops the categories for metres made (415) and clean breaks (14) in 2018/19.
25 – Ospreys full-back Dan Evans headed the Round 5 carries table, but his achievement was in vain as the Welsh region went down 20-18 to Worcester Warriors.
31 – Enisei-STM flanker Mikheil Gachechiladze executed the most tackles in Round 5 in his side’s 65-9 home drubbing by Bristol Bears.
82 – Pool 4 leaders La Rochelle have recorded the most offloads in this season’s Challenge Cup.
167 – Dragons backs Hallam Amos and Jordan Williams made the most metres in Round 5. Centre Amos (7) and full-back Williams (12) respectively topped the charts for breaks and defenders beaten as well.
823 – Pool 2 winners Worcester Warriors, who are already assured of a quarter-final slot, have pulled off the most tackles in the Challenge Cup so far this term.
