Ladbrokes are offering 11-8 for the All Blacks to win the World Cup

After a long 24-year wait for their second World Cup success, the reigning champions New Zealand will be hoping to become the first side to retain the Webb Ellis Trophy when they begin the defence of their World Cup crown against Argentina this Sunday. The All Blacks will go into this year’s tournament as firm favourites and why shouldn't they be, having only suffered two defeats in their last 30 tests.

With no disrespect to the other teams in Pool C, New Zealand should win their pool without any major problems with the quality of players at their disposal. The draw has been kind to them and it would take a major shock if you didn't see the All Blacks reach the semi final stages.

Key man: Julien Savea

With 30 tries in 35 appearances for the All Blacks, Savea will be looking to add to his already impressive record in what will be his first appearance at a World Cup. With his powerful running and ability to burst through defences it will be a tough ask for any side to keep him quiet for 80 minutes.

Player to watch: Nehe Milner-Skudder

After a standout season with the Hurricanes, Milner-Skudder earned himself a call up to the All Blacks and bagged himself 2 tries on debut. With his electric pace and dazzling feet, don't be surprised if he makes the headlines over Julian Savea.

Prediction: Winners. With the likes of McCaw, Carter and Conrad Smith hanging up their All Blacks jerseys after the World Cup they will be determined to end their glittering international careers with a second World Cup medal, and with head coach Steve Hansen able to call upon what is arguably the greatest New Zealand squad ever, you would be foolish not to back the All Blacks to secure their third World Cup.
