Calls for former Springbok wing to get a test recall in what would be an incredible comeback story

Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus handed starting debuts to Aphiwe Dyanti and Sbu Nkosi against England last June and gave debuts to the likes of Makazole Mapimpi and Cheslin Kolbe in his first year in charge of the Springboks.

However, following the Bulls' Super Rugby quarter-final 35-28 loss to the Hurricanes, Bok fans have backed speedster Cornal Hendricks to receive a test recall ahead of the Rugby Championships next month.

Before the start of this season, the 30-year-old who currently has 12 Test caps to his, had not played professional rugby since he represented the Cheetahs in 2015 when he received the news that he had a heart defect.

On the orders of medical professionals, Hendricks was forced to retire from rugby. He did not give up and continued to seek medical advice in the hope that he could return to rugby at the top level. Hendricks was close to joining Top 14 side Toulon in late 2016 but the French club opted against signing the Springbok with fears over his medical condition believed to be the main reason.

The Bulls threw the speedster a live line at the end of last season signing him ahead of the new Super Rugby season. Hendricks repaid the Bulls faith in him scoring three tries in the regular season and featuring in 13 games. Although, he did not score a boatload of tries his performances were consistent and it was the quarter-final where he really shined scoring a brace.

South African fans watching the game responded well with former Springbok winger Breyton Paulse and former Namibian International Jacques Burger weighing in on the debate.

Both of Hendricks' tries came from situations that he really shouldn't have scored from with spectators praising the winger:
