The loss sees Edinburgh's season come to an end after a 7th place finish on the URC log. We take a look at some of the winners and losers in the day.
Winners
Although he had a lucklustre second half that saw him sent off in the 61st for a deliberate knock-on, Ross Thompson's first half performance saw him score two tries, that left the Bulls shell shocked after he led his team to a fast start. On the other hand, Springbok and Bulls Willie le Roux proved once again how excellent he isunder the high-ball, even though he had to play with the sun in his eyes in the first half. This performance was coupled with a try assist that saw him make an excellent long pass to ... who finished under the posts, ending the game with the man of the match award.
Lastly, the Bulls number eight Cameron Hanekom is never one who fails to impress, and of course scored the opening try for the home side. This is a win for him as his Springbok stock keeps growing after unfortunately missing out due to injury).
Losers
Ewan Ashman (Injured in the 58th minute) - scores in the 59th goes off in the 60th same time as
Bulls lock JF van Heerden was sin binned in the 60th minute for a silly error. The Bulls were warned constant offside offences and the team was warned in the build up. After conceding a try, the referee called for van Heerden and sent him off. Although he may have scored a try, Edinburgh hooker Ewan Ashman was down with what seemed like a knee injury right before getting up and scoring a try. However the hooker immediately limped off after scoring.
The whole Edinburgh team. The team took their foot off the pedal in the beginning of the second half, lost the ball in the bulls 22 in the 75th minute, lost it again the midfield immediately of play resuming from the Bulls scrum that was a result of their previous error. At one point the visitors led 21-8, but allowed the Bulls to settle and were made to pay immediately at the beginning of the second half.
