Wales head coach Warren Gatland will return to New Zealand after his son Bryn Gatland suffered a serious foot injury playing for Highlanders in Super Rugby.
The fly-half suffered the injury during the 52-0 victory over the Sunwolves in Tokyo last weekend and Highlanders coach Mark Hammett says the 23-year-old will miss the rest of the season and will need to have surgery.
Gatland had replaced Josh Ioane in the 60th minute against the Sunwolves but didn't finish the game after mangling his foot in contact and is now set for surgery and a long rehabilitation.
Bryn Gatland is set to be sidelined for six months.
