Brumbies backrow Jahrome Brown re-signs for further two years

Brumbies backrower Jahrome Brown has re-signed with the club for a further two years which will see him stay in the nation’s capital until at least the end of 2023.

The 24-year-old openside joined the Brumbies in 2018, becoming Brumby 217 against the Queensland Reds in 2019, scoring a try with his very first touch in Super Rugby.

Brown was in excellent form at the start of the 2021 season, starting in the seven jersey four times before a shoulder injury saw him ruled out for the backend of the year.

Brumbies backrow Jahrome Brown said: “I’m really happy to be staying in Canberra with the Brumbies for at least the next two years.”

“The Brumbies gave me a chance coming across from New Zealand in 2018 and I’m grateful to have worn the colours and will continue to put my best foot forward for the club.

“We have a special group here where we enjoy working hard together, so being part of that every day is awesome and I’m just really excited to continue to represent the Brumbies.”

Brown’s re-signing will bolster the Brumbies backrow options for the 2022 Super Rugby season with current Wallabies Rob Valetini and Pete Samu as well as impressive youngsters Rory Scott and Luke Reimer all returning from the club’s 2021 group.

Brumbies head coach Dan McKellar said: “We’re thrilled Jahrome will be sticking around at the Brumbies for at least the next two seasons.”

“Jahrome has become an important player in our group and while he's been unlucky with injury at times the last couple of seasons, he’s impressed when on the park and has continued to set really high standards in training.

“He’s tough, he’s physical and he has a great engine so retaining him to complement our young backrows was really important for us.

“In saying that, he’ll just be turning 25 when preseason rolls around so he’s entering his prime years with room to grow and we believe he’ll be a big contributor for us moving forward.”
