British & Irish Lions squad set to split £2.6m jackpot for Tour victory

The British & Irish Lions squad will share a jackpot of more than £2.6m if Warren Gatland's side can claim a historic first Tour victory over the world champions.
According to the Telegraph, each player will receive a bonus of £10,000 each if the Lions win two of their three Test matches. This would be on top of a tour fee of £70,000 for every player who remains in the squad until the completion of the matches.
It is to be believed that the details of the agreed tour payments, including the tour win bonus, have been included in a commercial contract that was sent out to over 150 players last week, in time for the squad announcement on the 19th April.
The 37 players that will be chosen for the Lions will receive a 40% rise from the £50,000 the players received during the Tour of Australia in 2013, representing a 40% increase from the 2013 tour of Australia. However, the win bonus the side received for defeating the Wallabies will remain roughly the same.
The combined fee will be £2.59m, with another £370k to be forked out if the tourists record a history series victory over the All Blacks. An overall total of £2.96m.
