Brad Thorn puts hand up for Wallabies job

The conversation regarding the successor of Dave Rennie as Wallabies boss just took on a new level of interest as current Reds head coach, Brad Thorn, has put his hand up.
Known as one of the hardest men of rugby during his playing days, Thorn has since proved himself to be an astute coach, with the Reds faring well under his mentorship.
Popular opinion has, for a long time, stated that Brumbies boss Dan McKellar would take the reins from Rennie, but the possibility of Thorn introduces an interesting new dynamic and the Reds’ recent 21-7 victory of their Canberra counterparts has intensified the volume of voices calling for the former All Black to be given the role.
“Australia is where the challenge is for me and where I’m connected to,” Thorn said, talking to stuff.co.nz.
“I hold the Wallabies coaching role in high esteem. It’s a privilege and a responsibility. I don’t believe you should just walk in there and get the job. You have to earn the right.
“Right now, I’m really enjoying my time with Queensland. We feel we have built a quality program here and that’s where our focus remains.
“If the opportunity presented itself at the right time later down the track, I would be honoured to coach the Wallabies, but that’s for other people to make that decision.”
