Bath to battle it out with Worcester at Sixways
- 916
Last season’s semi-finalists Bath will be looking to turn around a disappointing start to their campaign when they travel to Sixways to take on Worcester Warriors in the fourth clash of the round.
Bath were caught unawares by a brilliantly spirited Newcastle outfit in Round 1, the former losing by seven points in the end before being flayed at Sandy Park in Round 2 by a superb Exeter Chiefs – 40-3.
Worcester have fared slightly better, having pulled off a narrow but good win over London Irish to kick-off their campaign before things turned ugly for them in Round 2 when they were brushed aside 30-13 at Ashton Gate by Pat Lam’s Bristol.
Bath enjoyed a decent season in 2019-20, finishing fourth on the overall standings with 67 points while Worcester had more of a struggle – finishing in 9th spot and with 42 points.
Worcester owe Bath after last season, losing to them twice in as many meetings. Things went down to the wire in Round 10 where Bath just pipped their opponents 22-21 at Sixways. Things were decidedly more one-sided in the return fixture, however, with Bath posting a 40-15 win in the nineteenth round.
Not an easy one to call here, as both teams will be fired up with motivation to bounce back from losses last week. While Bath may have a tad more desperation after two losses on the trot, they will have to face Worcester on the latter’s home turf, which may very well make things more interesting.
