Barbarians name strong squad to face the Wallabies

Former Wallabies coach Alan Jones, who will make his return to international coaching with the BaaBaas after a 30-year absence, named a partial squad to face the Wallabies.

With provincial comps in New Zealand and South Africa still underway, the Barbarians squad has a very Australian flavour, with eight ex-Western Force players, several fringe Wallabies candidates and captain Quade Cooper.

The international contingent contains All Black George Moala, Auckland halfback Augustine Pulu and elusive Samoan fullback Tim Nanai-Williams.

There is a strong chance more foreign players will join the squad when players not required for the Currie Cup and Mitre Ten Cup finals become available.

Former Wallabies backrower Luke Jones will return from France to play for the Barbarians on their two-match tour.

Several Barbarians players will use the game to press their claims to Cheika ahead of the Spring Tour, including Brumbies captain Sam Carter and rising stars like Tom Banks and Taniela Tupou will also use the big stage to show their talents.

Lions flanker Cyle Brink has also been named in the squad alongside fellow countrymen Seabelo Senatla and Wilco Louw from the Stormers, while Bulls utility forward Jacques Potgeiter has also been named in the squad.
