Autumn Nations Cup's top stats performers - most tackles, running metres & more

The penultimate round of the Autumn Nations Cup concluded yesterday with Ireland defeating Georgia 23-10 at the Aviva Stadium. The other results saw the English put Wales away 24-13 at Parc Y Scarlets before the French asserted their dominance over Italy, 36-5.

With the results in mind, we take a look at stats columns to see which players went above and beyond in the colours of their countries.

 

Tackles

Welsh openside James Botham ultilised his shoulders well against the English, putting in the most tackles of the round with 19, tie with hard-working French number 8 Anthony Jelonch.


Killian Geraci (France) contributed 18 while Georgians Merab Sharikadze and Giorgi Kveseladze each made 17.

CJ Stander
(Ireland) pulled out all the stops this round, finishing his game with an astonishing 25 carries under the belt – a typically strong performance from the South African-born hard man.

Stander’s teammate Stuart McCloskey carried on 16 occasions while Billy Vunipola made 15.

Metres gained

 

French fullback Brice Dulin covered the most ground with ball in hand over the weekend, racking up 119m for Les Bleus.

McCloskey made 106m in the Irish jersey and Italian winger Luca Sperandio managed 90m.

Defenders beaten

 

Along with his impressive distance made with the ball, Dulin also managed to beat the most defenders, along with teammate Teddy Thomas4, while a whole host of players dodged a total of 3 defenders each.

Turnovers won

 

Akaki Tabutsadze, Merab Sharikadze (Georgia), Joe Launchbury, Sam Underhill (England), Nick Tompkins (Wales), Chris Farrell (Ireland), Sekou Macalou (France), Johan Meyer (Italy) all left the field with a brace of steals to their names.

Clean breaks

Defences were fairly solid this round, the highest number of clean breaks being only 2 by French winger Teddy Thomas.
