Argentina Comeback To Draw Against Australia

Argentina and Australia could not be separated as the sides played out to a 15-15 draw in round 4 of the Tri Nations.

The sides traded early penalties to see the score locked up at 3-3 after just six minutes of play. The majority of the first half was being played deep in Argentinian territory, but the Wallabies were unable to capitalise on their territorial dominance. Argentina took the lead 32 minutes in with a penalty, but an Australian penalty shortly after leveled matters again at 6-6.

The Wallabies applied the pressure just before the break and were rewarded with another penalty which was successful to see them take a slender 9-6 advantage into halftime. Argentina were reduced to 14 players after picking up a yellow card just three minutes into the second half, with the resulting penalty seeing Australia up 12-6.

Argentina missed a penalty shortly after, with the Wallabies making it a two score ball game with a shot at goal after 56 minutes to head into the final quarter up by nine at 15-6. Momentum began to shift in Argentinas favour, which allowed them to keep the scoreboard ticking over, slotting three penalties in just seven minutes to draw level at 15-15 with around ten minutes remaining.

The Wallabies would have a late chance to sneak the win with a penalty with a little over two minutes to play, but it went wide as the sides had to settle for a share of the spoils. The result sees all threeTri Nations sides on six log points, with Argentina having a game in hand.
