All Blacks Shine In Palmerston North

The Hurricanes secured a bonus point victory over the Brumbies in Palmerston North as the Canberra outfit failed to claim back to back victories over New Zealand opposition, something they haven't achieved in 5 years.

The Hurricanes were clinical scoring some cracking tries with Vince Aso's no-look pass to Ngani Laumape of the many highlights in the game.

Despite spending 10 minutes in the sin bin David Pocock was the standout for the Brumbies but the game was dominated by the Hurricanes' All Blacks.

Ngani Laumape scored a hattrick in his hometown racking up over 150 running metres in doing so.

Laumape wasn't the only All Black that stepped against the Brumbies with Ardie Savea putting in a breakdown masterclass to combat David Pocock's impact in that area of the game.

The hype prematch was around Beauden Barrett's first appearance in 2019 and although the former World Player of the Year enjoyed a strong performance it was his halfback partner that truly shined with TJ Perenara running the show.

Perenara's passes were crisp and his kicking accurate but his work around the rucks and his overall running game was simply superb. He sent Laumape steaming down the touchline with a great snipe and offload and was credited with 2 try assists.

Dane Coles was also sensational for the Hurricanes scoring a brace, the first of which he pounced on a loose ball while he scored his second with a great finish in the corner.

John Plumtree will certainly be impressed by the performance of his All Blacks but the likes of Du Plessis Kirifi and Chase Tiatia were also superb and will give the head coach a few headaches when his side is at full strength.
