Bath star Alfie Barbeary banned over high tackle on Racing 92 full-back Max Spring.

Bath Rugby number eight Alfie Barbeary has been handed a three-week suspension, which will be reduced down to two games if he takes World Rugby's 'tackle school' programme, after an independent disciplinary hearing found his tackle on Racing 92 full-back Max Spring was worthy of a red card, rather than the yellow he received in the game.

Barbeary was cited for two incidents by citing commissioner Tim Lowry (Ireland), both of which saw him earn yellow cards from referee Andrea Piardi in the 29-25 victory over French Top 14 leaders Racing 92. Firstly, he was alleged to have tackled the Racing 92 full back, Max Spring in a dangerous manner in the 6th minute of the match in contravention of Law 9.13. Secondly, he was alleged to have struck the Racing 92 scrum-half, Nolann Le Garrec, with his forearm in a dangerous manner in the 75th minute of the match in contravention of Law 9.11.
