Round 24 of the 2021-22 Premiership is set to yield some explosive action as competition for the play-offs intensifies.
One of the first match-ups of the weekend sees a juicy clash between third and fourth spot as Quins travel to Franklin’s Gardens to take on Northampton Saints.
The defending champs Quins managed to stick one on log-leaders Leicester Tigers last weekend – a very valuable result not just in terms of points, but with regard to Quins’ mind-set going forward.
The Saints managed to overcome Bath but would’ve hoped for a better performance as they finished the game only five points ahead:
The last time the teams faced each other was in Round 11 and it was Quins who took the spoils with a 41-27 scoreline:
It will be a particularly big day for Saints winger Matt Proctor and lock Alex Coles, who rack up their 50th caps for the club.
Saints fullback George Furbank said the following ahead of the match:
“It’s a massive game for us. It’s less thinking about the break and more thinking about this top four being in our control; if we win then there’s two games to go and it’s still in our control. You look at the table and you can see it’s in our own hands. You don’t know what teams around you are going to do – Gloucester could go and get three wins, Exeter could get those last two wins – but we need to try and go out there and get victory in those last three games.”
This from Quins boss Tabai Matson:
"We know we will be under the pump for periods of time and it’s our challenge to ensure we’re composed and make sure we get our set-piece into the game, which is going to be key to winning this week."
