10 Key moments in Bordeaux's retention of the Champions Cup

The reigning champions lifted the trophy for the second consecutive season as they proved too strong for Leinster Rugby in Bilbao.

Here are 10 key moments from the game.

7’ Leinster hold the ball up in the maul after a UBB lineout and it becomes their scrum feed on the 5m line. They setup multiple attacking phases and they strike out wide to score the first try of the game.

15’ Louis Bielle-Biarrey gets the ball out wide, he chips it over Hugo Keenan who touches as it goes over the deadball line. UBB get a 5m scrum and they score from a defensive error from Ioane who shot out the line creating space for Uberti to score.

23’ Van der Flier wins the ball at the ruck, but he knocks it forward as he tries to place it. UBB get a scrum on the 22m line, they are relentless on the attack, moving the ball left to right, keeping it alive, eventually it goes out wide to Bielle-Biarrey who dances around 2 defenders to score.  

31’ Leinster have a lineout on Bordeaux’s 5m line, UBB knock it back in the air and it goes out of bounds for a Leinster scrum. After multiple phases, Leinster knock it forward and Bordeaux can exit their 22.

40+3’ With the clock in the red Leinster try to run it out of their 22, they run it into Bordeaux's half but Moefana intercepts and scores UBB’s 5th try which seals the victory in the first half.  

41’ Captain Maxime Lucu gets a yellow card early into the second half and this gives Leinster a 1-man advantage.

46’ Leinster get a penalty 30m out, they kick for touch and setup an attacking lineout. They break free and after a few phases McCarthy goes over the line.

50’ Leinster are on the attack with an overlap out wide, just inside UBB’s 22, Rayasi intercepts and stops the Leinster attack.  

61’ Leinster are on the attack, getting in their groove but replacement prop Tameifuna wins it back at the break and the penalty goes their way for not releasing by Leinster.

74’ Boniface shoulder charged Ryan in the ruck and is sent to the bin for the remainder of the game.
