'They have said they are not moving their final ' - Warren Gatland urges Premiership clubs to move their Final back in 2021

Warren Gatland has called on Premiership clubs to bring forward the end of the their 2020/21 season ahead of the 2021 British and Irish Lions tour.

The former Wales head coach will lead the Lions for the third time when they take on the Rugby World Cup Champions, South Africa, in the Republic.

Gatland believes to improve their chances he needs to get his squad together sooner but so far he has been frustrated in his attempts to convince Premiership Rugby to move the final date forward from June 26.

“They have said they are not moving their final which I find very disappointing,” Gatland told Mail Online.

'In fairness to the Pro14 they have moved theirs a week earlier. If PRL did that it would be fantastic. We are still negotiating with them. It would help us so much in the planning and preparation. I am saying to the clubs and PRL, embrace the Lions. You are going to play the world champions now."
