'I had nothing to lose' - Danny Care

After four years in test exile, Harlequins and England scrum-half Danny Care has revealed how he got back in the England squad.
Before coming off the bench for England against the Barbarians last week, Care hadn't featured in Eddie Jones' squad since the 2018 victory over Japan in 2018.
The veteran halfback had a falling out with the England boss which meant he was unable to add to his 84 test caps between 2018 and 2021.
Now back in the squad to tour Australia, Care says he saw an opportunity to rebuild the bridges with Jones and took it.
“Eddie texted me around my 250th Premiership game, said congrats about that, and I thought I’d shoot my shot and see what happens. I had nothing to lose,” Care said.
“We met for a coffee, had a great chat, talked about life, how the game was going. He was complimentary about how I was playing, so I was happy with that. I laid it on the line and said I’d give anything to have another chance and help the team. I think I can. He said, ‘Play well and we’ll see what happens’.”
Care was in excellent form for Harlequins as they reached the semi-finals of the Premiership and missed the chance to defend their title in the final as they lost to Saracens.
His performances in the Premiership earned him a place in the Dream XV of the season. He played in all 25 of Harlequins' matches in the League assisting 17 tries and scored seven.
