Red Card | 5'
That's a joke his eyes were on the ball the whole time it was a reckless tackle but it wasn't intentional
What did he do??
for what!
Ridiculous
Not intentional at all
Shocking. Ref has had a nightmare there. French t***
Taking the guy out in the air......clumsy not malicious. Yellow at worst
Rediculous use of the red card. At worst it might have been a yellow. Referee is a clown.
outrageous card!
That ref is a thundering idiot. Worst case it was a yellow. Ref should have gone to TMO given the ocassion. He just ruined the game.
Just a ridiculous decision
Eyes were on the ball the shole time
Bullshit
Garces loves handing out a red doesn't he
Seems fair
Rugby needs to learn from football here... Don't ruin a massive game with a red
Feel sorry for ulster - red too harsh, yellow would suffice
Red, no question
stupid ******* ref. all he knows are red cards linesmane gets a finger out his arse and tell he also has yellows ruined game
tells him *
It's not over till the SUFTUM sing. Ref why ruin a massive game for both sides.
What happened??
Harsh to be a red, no intent whatsoever. Decision made on seriousness of the injury
What sort of an injury was it?
It's not about the game it's about protecting player in the air, eyes on ball but reckless - fair red...
Fair red, as annoying as it is. Completely reckless / clumsy even if not intentional.
Yellow no more for more than one reason ...
Definite yellow. It's not tiddlywinks,accidents happen FFS. Ashton.....what a d*ck.
Goode was stretched off taking oxygen.
Typical northern hemisphere refereeing there. Anyone agreeing with the call should stay away from rugby
What a awful tackel! Defiant red! Even though it was intentional, completely reckless!
Sorry Payne needed to be more aware of where the player was, the majority of the occasions the ref will give a red in these situations
^
red at worst yellow at best
Reds harsh like!
No way was that a red card. Yellow for sure
Absolutely despicable call from the ref, 50/50 ball in the air Payne has to go for it has just as much of a right to go for it & didn't take his eye off of the ball
A penalty at the most!
All the best to Goode hope he has a speedy recovery
Goode back on the sidelines seems fine
wow
Ref plays it as he sees it does not matter about what the game is about be it international, cup rugby premier rugby or club rugby
Owen Farrell is just a dirty arrogant ****. He no more went for the ball there. He went to hurt someone. Oohhhhhhhhh Prick!
Greenwood says he should be more careful as he's the 2nd man arriving???? How can he know that when he's watching the ball? **** comment!
What I want to know is what is a f**k is a linesmane
He didn't jump for the ball or try to bring the guy down safely. It was dangerous and reckless. Red card was the right decision.
Didn't stand a chance after that but put up a good fight
He didn't jump for the ball or try to bring the guy down safely. It was dangerous and reckless. Red card was the right decision.
Didn't jump for the ball, took his eyes off the ball before making contact, wasn't aware of the player and he wrapped a hand around goode's leg. Red.
Typical Irish, moaning when a decision is given against them..
If use all watch it again you will see that he jumped in to payne
Just read about it on twitter with English rugby players calling it a fair red. Eyes were on the ball yes, but player welfare is important.
It was card, ulster lost. Deal with it
A red card*
Do you honestly think if Alex Goode got back up to his feet reasonably soon after the incident it would have been a Red card? No chance! The Ref used the injury to make the decision. Yellow card yes but definitely not a red, Payne's eyes were on the ball and he just ran under Alex Goode, fully committed. I would say it ruined the game but Ulster were outstanding anyway... Tommy Bowe with a special mention. And this chat all comes from a Glasgow supporter from a Paisley Rugby Club background.
All these idiots saying it was a definite red. You are using speculation, not the rules. Red card is warranted if there is malicious intent or complete recklessness. There was none, both players clearly tracking the ball. The collision was made worse by the fact Payne didn't jump. Warranted a yellow at most. Ref got it wrong. This will go to the irb and will be reversed.
Why are people saying it was definite red. A definite yellow though as it was a bit of a bad one but not malicious or intentional. Hard look to Ulster as it would have been great to have another All Irish final. Best of luck to Saracens, they will need every single bit of luck to make it past the next round.
I am English and think it was Yellow. However when your illegal action leads to someone being stretchered off then it could be upgraded to a red! Same thing happened to Cueto and A Tuilagi during Sam v Eng and Cueto was not injured!
Idiots... How you could possibly say that was a red card is a joke.. A similar incident happened with Geoff cross and lee Byrne in the 6 nations a few years ago and it was only a yellow so to give out a red in this situation shows how much a joke the standard of refereeing in the world is right now. No consistency
Payne had his eyes on the ball the whole time
James England - so what if your legal action leads to someone being stretchered off? Should that be upgraded to a penalty just because someone got hurt? We cannot change sanctions based on how much someone get hurt. Some of the worst tackles I've ever seen have resulted in the tackled player being totally fine and playing on. This incident should have been a yellow card at the most. When compared with similar incidents that go unpenalised, the only difference is that both players jumped - the intent was the same from both players, the players eye position is the same and the result (one player being injured) is potentially the same. In essence, we are saying "jump = no sanction, no jump = penalty and red card". It's farcical.
Exact same thing happened in the Force Reds game, commentators & ref got it right a fair competition for the ball but a penalty for the 1st mans team
Thats a joke goode came back onto the pitch high fiving the bench ffs, he clearly had his eyes on the ball he went into that challenge with no intent on taking the man out of the air, in big games like that things like this will happen but a red the ref needs to go back to where he got his refereeing licence and hand it in he ruined the whole game and the hope of ulster
Worst decision so far this season
