The Stormers take a 23-12 lead over the Sharks into halftime. The Stormers got off to a blistering start, with an early penalty followed by two quick tries to race into a 17-0 lead. The Stormers then picked up a red card 13 minutes in and a yellow card followed just a minute later to reduce the hosts to 13 players for a time. The Sharks capitalized immediately with a try to get on the board trailing 17-7. Despite being down players, the Stormers kept the scoreboard ticking over, slotting two penalties to extend the lead out to 23-7. The Stormers had other chance at points, but two penalty attempts were off target. The Sharks crossed for their second try just before the break to trail by 11 points at halftime.
