Another high tackle

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

Homer would be proud

Christopher Landsberg Bell
Christopher Landsberg Bell 9 years ago

another BS call... that wasn't high, he didn't even make the tackle... it was a slip off as he ducked...

Simon De Roo
Simon De Roo 9 years ago

the dude ducked into it.

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Bullshit call.. No surprises

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

Was high alright

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Sure, if you are 3 feet tall

Arno van Zyl
Arno van Zyl 9 years ago

Prett poor call if you ask me.

Arno van Zyl
Arno van Zyl 9 years ago

Yea just watched the replay...disguting call. Nothing in it at all.

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

South Africa's own fault. If you know a refs going to pin you for it, go out of your way to tackle low

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

He tackled around waist height.. The player ducked into it

Cobus Jacobs
Cobus Jacobs 9 years ago

Waterboy if you know anythong about rugby you wpuld know you cant give a yellow card for that. Stay with being a waterboy

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

I don't know what game you're watching, both swinging arms

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

I know a lot about rugby actually. You're just sore to be losing

Cobus Jacobs
Cobus Jacobs 9 years ago

Im just sore a good game is being ruined by poor refereeing

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Wow, OK Bertie, I'm sure we will see the same type of decision go the way of SA when England tackle a ducking player.

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

And you obviously know nothing yourself. A ref can give a card if he feels it's dangerous. My grandads South African, I know how sore a losing nation you are. Calls go with and against you sometimes. Move on

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Haha wow, you really are a prick. Way to nail the stereotype

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Thank you I try

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

You guys happy now you're getting all the penalties this half?

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Every single scrum the number 1 or 2 pops up.

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Also, being offside is a penalty, it's not debatable

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

If a hooker pops out it's usually cow the tight head boring in

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Speak English please

Cobus Jacobs
Cobus Jacobs 9 years ago

Tackle without arms? Oh sorry it was an english player. Play on

Jamie Carter
Jamie Carter 9 years ago

Haha bet you think the penalty try was a bad call as well?

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

No, but it was obstruction before the scrum.. That's a penalty.

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

I had one word autocorrected, not that hard to figure stephen

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

A South African TMO declared it not to be obstruction

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

The obstruction was fine

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

So? Doesn't mean it wasn't a poor call

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Hahaha. He didn't actually prevent the tackle being made. It was just very poor defence from the SA 10 and you were saved by your winger

Jamie Carter
Jamie Carter 9 years ago

South Africa scrum now goes backward and collapses, guess that is a bad call as well?

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

If you block a player, and he did (contact between the two), then it's obstruction. And what about the shoulder charge? Was that also fine taking into account the two yellows for dangerous tackles?

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

I never said it was. You are clearly a moron

Jamie Carter
Jamie Carter 9 years ago

I thought every call by the ref was wrong unless it does to SA... That is all I am reading

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Sigh. Please learn to read. I simply said that the yellow was a bad call and so was the obstruction

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

And if consistency is to be taken into account, why did the shoulder charge not yet a yellow?

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Get*

Jamie Carter
Jamie Carter 9 years ago

First offence not the 3rd and 4th?

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

South Africa are being outplayed and being. Technically your comment is incorrect. It's obstruction if the player prevents a tackle from being made, which it did not.

Haven't seen a shoulder charge

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

Shoulder charge should have been yellow

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

If you didn't see a shoulder charge, for which a penalty was given, then maybe you should turn on the TV

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Oh I do apologise that I missed it. You got a penalty! It's not like South Africa is known as the cleanest rugby nation now is it

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

"The ball carrier must not run behind an active block-runner and disadvantage the defensive line. The defender should not be expected to defend against this play." that is exactly what happened

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

Re high tackle. If a player 'ducks' into a tackle that does not give you license to attempt to remove his head from his body. In all instances in this match the tackler continued the tackle knowing it was high.

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Haha that's the funniest interpretation of the law I have seen.

Jamie Carter
Jamie Carter 9 years ago

It was a penalty 100%!!

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Bloody true though. It's the tacklers responsibility to make it as safe as possible for the ball carrier

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Let's talk about how South Africa have forgotten that in rugby you must catch and hold onto the ball

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Im sure you are of the opinion that if a player jumps into a tackle then it's tackling in the air too. I'm not saying it's not a penalty but it sure as **** is not a yellow card. You will see many more of those this year that won't be given yellow, why? Because it's not a yellow l

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Why is h ell blanked out?

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

Stephen a player is not allowed jump into a tackle

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Those are in fact the rules yes. Look I'm not saying any of these things are what I want or would give but they are the rules. Learn them

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

And I never said that SA are playing well. Do you even know how to have a constructive discussion?

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

A high tackle is normally just a penalty but in this circumstance the ref clearly gave a team warning

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

A player cannot duck into a tackle just as much as he cannot jump into one

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Hahaha coming from you calling me a prick and Julian a moron. Don't contradict yourself mate

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Warm you actually can duck. This is union not rugby league

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Erm*

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

Stephen there is no law about ducking s tackle

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

You insulted all South Africans and Julian cannot read, quite justified on my end

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Stephen you're making a fool of yourself now I'd just stop

Arno van Zyl
Arno van Zyl 9 years ago

Some of you clearly do not understand the laws of rugby and probably just recently started watching casually. The fact is...this tackle was NOT high at all!

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

I didn't insult them, I said you're sore losers. Which is true. Been playing since I was 4, now 25 and have missed one season through injury and have my level 2 coaching.......next

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

All penalised high tackles were correct in law

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

All I ask is for consistency. A shoulder charge is more dangerous than a player ducking into a waist high tackle.

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

Getting a shoulder to the chest is more dangerous than having someone swinging off your head? Really!

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

See look you have your yellow can you please stop feeling hard done by now. And he was falling into the tackle, and really falling into the tackle haha. Can't wait to hear what you have to say now stephen

Arno van Zyl
Arno van Zyl 9 years ago

That yellow was also not high. Kinda pointless giving it with 7 minutes to go now is it

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

The point is, it doesn't matter, if you make contact with the head, you're likely to get penalised

Cobus Jacobs
Cobus Jacobs 9 years ago

Poor call again. Poor refereeing. He ducked into the call. This ref should study his rules

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Why are you guys celebrating poor reffing? Regardless of who is being favoured. No one wants to see had reffing

Arno van Zyl
Arno van Zyl 9 years ago

If I slip and fall into your knee with my face then that does not justify a red card. But if you knee me in my face then it is a red. I hope you understand and get the point

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

I get your point. But it is unfortunately the rules. It shouldn't be, but it is

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

Bad*

Arno van Zyl
Arno van Zyl 9 years ago

If you apply that thinking to this tackle then you will see and get the point. If I commit to the tackle and you slip I can not get the blame for tackling you above the shoulder...YOU fell

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

It's an interpretation of the rules. That does not get given as a yellow in super rugby.

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

That's when you leave go Arno

Arno van Zyl
Arno van Zyl 9 years ago

You make no sense Julian

Bertie 'Waterboy' Elliott
Bertie E. 9 years ago

I know mate. I'm not disputing that. It's a young ref, doing everything by the book. Super refs and aviva prem refs would look at it and see he slipped

Stephen Paine
Stephen Paine 9 years ago

At least we can agree on that. Another thing I'm sure we can agree on is that SA have been well beaten

Julian D'Arcy
Julian D'Arcy 9 years ago

Good discussion lads thanks!
