The Sale Sharks edged the Newcastle Falcons 26-24 in a sea-saw battle. Both sides scored two first half tries, but two Sale penalties saw them lead 18-12 at the break. Another try for the Sharks extended the lead, but two quick tries from Newcastle saw the Falcons sneak ahead 24-23 heading into the final quarter of the match. Sale would have the final say as a penalty with 5 minutes to play saw them seal a two point victory.
