In the RWC 1987 semi-finals, in Brisbane, Australia, New Zealand won 49-6 en route to winning the inaugural Webb Ellis Cup. To this day, the 43-point rout ranks as Wales' heaviest defeat at the Rugby World Cup.

In the pool phase in 1995, New Zealand won 34-9 in Johannesburg (Ellis Park). Andrew Mehrtens posted 19 of the All Blacks' 34 points in that match.

In the 2003 pool phase, New Zealand won a 53-37 scorefest. At one point in that match (after 45 minutes), the All Blacks found themselves trailing by six points (34-28).
