Australia started the game the better of the two sides, scoring two early tries within the first 10 minutes. The All Blacks defence struggled to contain the Wallabies as they were totally outplayed in all aspects of the game. The All Blacks managed to find their feet and showed some glimpses of their powerful attack but it was quickly contained by the Australian defence. However, both coaches will be extremely worried heading into the World Cup with some injury concerns as Porecki was replaced early in the first half after failing an HIA, while Retallick limped off the park midway through the half and Ennor leaving the park just before half time. Matt Faessler (Australia) and Dallas McLeod (New Zealand) has officially made their debut after replacing Porecki and Ennor respectively
