Canada are one of three RWC opponents Italy have faced twice, winning both previous encounters. The others are Romania and USA. There are no opponents Italy have beaten three times in the history of the tournament.

Italy and Canada square off in the Rugby World Cup in a Pool B clash. Italy got their campaign off to a winning start with a 47-22 victory over Namibia, while this will be Canada's first match of the tournament. The sides have met twice in Rugby World Cup's in 2015 and 2003, with Italy winning both encounters 23-18 and 19-14 respectively.
