'Canes find themselves deep in the Crusaders half, hammering against a solid defence. Crusaders eventually concede a penalty at the breakdown, ten metres form the line. Hurricanes opt for the kick at goal and close the gap to one.

Crusaders score their first try of the season with a fantastic, individual Crotty try. The inside-centre scythes through the Hurricanes defence, punching a hole where none existed. He shrugs off two tackles and dances around the full back before touching down.

Crusader's openside, Todd is penalised for an offside infringement at the lineout. Barret converts the penalty to points and draws his side in front. Some exciting attacking play from both teams but a number of unforced handling errors slowing the game down.
