Montpellier take a 15-14 lead over the Exeter Chiefs into halftime. Montpellier got off to a blistering start with two tries inside the opening ten minutes to lead 12-0. Exeter then got on the board with a try to trail 12-7. Montpellier then picked up a yellow card and Exeter capitalized immediately with a score to edge ahead 14-12. Exeter then picked up a late yellow card which saw the resulting penalty put Montpellier up by a single point at the break.
