The Blues host the back to back defending champion Crusaders in opening round of Super Rugby. The Blues won just four of their 16 games last season to finish firmly entrenched at the bottom of the New Zealand Conference. The Crusaders recorded 14 victories to top the overall standings, sweeping aside the Sharks, Hurricanes and Lions in the play-offs to successfully defend their title.
