Eng take an 11-10 lead over Aus into halftime. Aus missed an early penalty, with Eng opening the scoring with a shot at goal 17 minutes in. Aus hit back with a try after 24 minutes and the Wallabies added a penalty around the half hour mark to lead 10-3. Eng pulled three points back with a penalty, but missed a shot at goal just before halftime. Eng would however cross for a try with the final play of the half to take a one point advantage into the break.
