Dublin-born Cahill only took up rugby in his last year at Blackrock College. He went on to play in the SCT final against St. Michaels, where he scored the winning try in a 14-12 win. Cahill signed for Doncaster but his time there was hampered by injury. He then moved to Rotherham where he stayed for 2 years before moving onto Cornish Pirates in 2013. Cahill signed for Premiership side London Welsh for the 2014/15 season.
