Van Wyk was included in the South Africa President's XV team that played in the 2013 IRB Tbilisi Cup, with the team winning the tournament when it went undefeated after all three matches.
He was included in the Lions squad for the 2014 Super Rugby season before signing for the Cheetahs' 2015 Super Rugby season.
2016 saw him sign for Top League side Toshiba Brave Lupus, where he has since made 11 appearances, scoring 27 points.
