Comfortable on both sides of the scrum, Badenhorst began his career at Western Province at age-group levels and represented South Africa at the IRB Junior World Championships in 2010. The powerful prop played WP U21 in 2011 and was drafted in by the Cheetahs for the 2012 Currie Cup. 2013 saw a move to Kimberley and kitting out for Griquas in both the Vodacom and Currie Cup.
