World Cup Debut Results in Unprecedented 3 Match Home July 2024 Series for Chile

Chile has secured an unprecedented three-match home series for July. Previous July International series have seen Los Cóndores struggling for matches. However, now with the team having debuted at the Rugby World Cup Chile Rugby has successfully locked-in a mouth-watering series of home fixtures for Los Cóndores.

Chile will play against a mixture of teams. Tier 1 side, and rugby powerhouse, Scotland will play at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago on July 20. This is match three of four for the Northern British nation; Scotland also face Canada, the USA and Uruguay.

Los Cóndores’ two other home matches will be against Belgium and Hong Kong. The former is a historic first; never before has Chile faced Belgium in a test match. The venue for the July 13 match is yet to be confirmed. Prior to taking-on Belgium, Chile will face Hong Kong. It will be just the second ever test match between the teams.

Chile faced Hong Kong in 2017 as part of the Nations Cup. The Asians defeated the South Americans 13-6 with the scrum being a key factor.

In facing Hong Kong in July, Chile will have played test match rugby against the top three Asian sides over the course of an eight year period. Chile played host to South Korea for a two match tour in November 2016. Chile won the first match 30-12 before South Korea completed a remarkable comeback to overturn a 31 point deficit and win 38-36 in Santiago.

Chile’s Rugby World Cup 2023 captain Martín Sigren made his test debut in the first test match against South Korea in 2016. Other World Cup names involved in that series include Tomás Dussaillant, Juan Pablo Larenas, and Rodrigo Fernández.
