What the stats say ahead of the Vodacom Bulls and Scarlets clash

The 2022/23 Vodacom United Rugby Championship action returns this weekend as the focus now turns to see what Round 13 will have to offer.

It all begins with Friday night lights kicks off which will see the Vodacom Bulls travel to Scarlets in Llanelli. This is what the stats say ahead of the second clash between the two sides.

Scarlets

  • Despite his ban, Sione Kalamafoni remains the Vodacom URC’s top carrier. He has made a league-topping 150 carries, more post-contact metres than any other player (128), and the most dominant carry contacts (40)
  • Jonathan Davies has won more turnovers than any other back (12), four more than next best Rohan Janse van Rensburg. Five of these have been one-on-one strips
  • Sam Lousi has thrown more offloads than any other player this season (11). He has also made the most choke tackles in the competition (six)

Vodacom Bulls

  • Ruan Nortje has won more lineouts than any other player in the Vodacom URC (64). Also showing his dexterity in the loose, he has made more passes than any other forward (50). Whilst he has made two try assists, teammate Marcell Coetzee leads the pack with three
  • Vodacom Bulls have the best success rate off the tee in the competition (88%). This allows them to get the best out of their impressive attack, which has produced a league-high 32 try assists
  • Vodacom Bulls have scored four more tries from turnovers than any other team (11). Their favoured method of winning turnovers is extracting jackal penalties, of which they have been awarded 25 so far this season - the second-highest total in the league
