Wasps recruit Ian Costello

Nottingham Rugby Head Coach Ian Costello will leave the club at the end of the current season to take up a senior coaching role with Premiership side Wasps.

Costello signed a two-year contract with the Green and Whites in the summer of 2016, joining from PRO14 side Munster, where he spent five years in a variety of senior coaching roles and was credited for aiding the skill development of a number of the provincial giants’ current and rising stars.

Having settled in well to life in Nottingham since his move across the water, Costello has played a key role in managing a successful and sustainable development pathway for both players and coaches at the club, working alongside Premiership clubs such as Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints, Worcester Warriors and Wasps to establish strong links for dual-registered and loan players.

He has also been a supportive figure behind promoting the first team’s local links with the wider rugby community.

After a ninth-place finish in the 2016/17 campaign, Nottingham now currently sit in fourth in this season’s Greene King IPA Championship table, with the experienced gained by a relatively young side last year, now seemingly paying dividends for the Green and Whites.
