Wasps have announced that Nizaam Carr will be re-joining the Club for the 2021/22 season from the Bulls.
The Springbok back-rower made 56 appearances for Wasps, scoring 13 tries, in two-and-a-bit seasons in Black and Gold. Carr will join up with his teammates in August after his commitments with the Bulls.
The 30-year-old joined Wasps permanently at the start of the 2018/19 season after a highly successful three-month loan spell in Coventry in 2017/18, during which time Carr’s explosive pace and carrying skills saw him claim four tries in 11 outings. These included a memorable long-range effort at Harlequins and a superb finish in front of a big derby-day crowd against Leicester Tigers, firmly establishing Carr as a fans’ favourite.
In 2018/19 Carr made twenty-six appearances, adding three more tries to his tally.
In his last season at Wasps, he produced some of his best form with six more tries in nineteen games. He scored some spectacular tries - none more so than the memorable score which snatched a dramatic last-minute win at Bristol in the last game of 2019.
Carr, who has gained five Springbok caps since making his debut against Italy in 2014, was an integral part of the Bulls back-row that reached the Rainbow Cup Final this season.
His early career was spent at Cape Town’s famous Bishop’s School, after which he won South Africa caps at Under 20 level, in addition to making over 100 Super Rugby appearances for the Stormers and Bulls.
