Toronto Arrows 2022-End-of-Season Team Awards

The Toronto Arrows announced the list of senior team award winners following the completion of the 2022 Major League Rugby season, marking the first campaign that club awards have been issued.

PLAYERS’ PLAYER OF THE YEAR | RONAN FOLEY

A worthy recipient of the honour bestowed by his teammates, our No. 8 routinely put in jaw-dropping performances throughout the 2022 season to mark a memorable sophomore campaign.

Foley led the club in several statistical categories this past season, including carry metres (1,303), linebreaks (8), defenders beaten (31), and offloads (20). He also finished second in made tackles (186) and breakdown steals (8), as well as fourth in ruck arrivals (250).

FORWARD OF THE YEAR | ISAAC SALMON

A fierce scrummager with a work ethic to match, the durable first-year prop was a force to be reckoned with in all 16 matches across the 2022 campaign.

Salmon started 12 matches and came on as a substitute in a further four, racking up 518 carry metres on 79 carries, 198 ruck arrivals, 133 made tackles (nine dominant), six defenders beaten, five offloads, and one try.

BACK OF THE YEAR | ROSS BRAUDE

Our second-year scrum-half saw his game continue to evolve throughout the 2022 season, with the Canadian international making big leaps as he marshalled our side with precision and poise.

Braude started 10 matches across his injury-shortened campaign, but still amassed 598 passes, 449 carry metres on 47 carries, 69 general play kicks, 53 made tackles, 21 defenders beaten (tops amongst backs), six linebreaks, and three tries.

CLUB MAN OF THE YEAR | JAMES O’NEILL

Selected by the coaching staff, this award is given to a player that exemplifies what it means to be an Arrow both on and off the pitch; someone who demonstrates the he is tough as nails and willing to practice his craft until his good is better and his better is best.

The first-year flanker was regularly the first to arrive and the last to leave at all team functions, and took care to foster the team environment in every way possible.
