Top Performers: Hurricanes v Chiefs
- 2013
An entertaining game in Wellington which saw the home side collect their 6th win of the season against a relentless Chiefs side.
Here are our Top Performers from a brilliant match:
Ben Lam
Lam looked dangerous from the first whistle and it didn't take long before he had his first try-scoring opportunity.
Some brilliant defence by Charlie Ngatai denied the big winger his first try of the match but he eventually got it minutes later when he ran a great line off Ngani Laumape, beat 3 defenders and scored.
Lam beat 8 defenders and collected 81 running metres by halftime and carried on in similar fashion in the second taking his totals to 120 running metres, 9 defenders beaten and 2 clean breaks before being substituted in the 74th minute.

Beauden Barrett
Another stellar performance by the World Rugby Player of the Year.
He made 98 running metres, beat 4 defenders and made 2 clean breaks.
His excellent kicking game put the Chiefs under pressure throughout the game and earned him a try assist.
Barrett pounced on a loose pass early in the second half before kicking the ball around Retallick to score a superb try in the corner.
Solomon Alaimalo
Playing on the wing today Alaimalo had another standout performance for the Chiefs.
He gained 70 metres more than any other player in the match (Ben Lam -120) and beat 7 defenders from his 13 carries.
On defence he was solid making all 4 of his tackles and made 1 turnover.
Gareth Evans
Evans was sublime off the back of under pressure Hurricanes pack in this match.
He was able to make ground by picking the ball off the base of the Hurricanes scrum and get the Canes back on the front foot.
He made a game high of 11 tackles, won 1 turnover and carried the ball 8 times making 47 running metres.
