Top 5 point scorers in the Top League

With the Top League season fiercely underway, we take a moment and acknowledge the leading men across the 16 teams.

Here are the 5 top point scorers of the season so far:

5. JC Roos (59 points for Canon Eagles)

Following an exciting career playing for the Bulls Under-19, Under-21 and Premier Division, Roos has been furthering his career with the Canon Eagles.

He also appeared in all of Pumas ten matches in 2015 and contributed 118 points, finishing the tournament as the top scorer.

He is trying to keep on delivering constant top performances and sits on number 5 of the highest point scorers in the Top League so far.

4. Junpei Ogura (67 points for Shining Arcs)

The former Japanese international U20 had participated in the Junior World Rugby Trophy 2012 in the United States.

With great striking ability, Junpei is recruited by Shining Arcs and his arrival does nothing but strengthen the pack.

3. Gerhard van den Heever (69 points for Yamaha Jubilo)

Making his Super Rugby debut with the Bulls at just 19 years of age, in his two years with the club the winger played his part in capturing the 2010 Super Rugby title, scoring 8 tries along the way and becoming the third highest try scorer of the league that year.

His fire hasn't died as he is cementing his place as one of Yamaha Jubilo's leading men.

2. Codey Rei (74 points for Kobelco Steelers)

Rei became a Steeler after waving goodbye to Taranaki this year.

The Maori All Black has shown some decent form over the past 2 years, contributing to Taranaki's first top flight trophy when he kicked 3 conversions and 5 penalties in a flawless display in the NPC premiership final against Tasman.

1. Kosei Ono (78 points so far for Suntory Sungoliath)

Ono played a pivotal role in Japan's Rugby World Cup upset win over South Africa in 2015.

He signed for the Sanix Blues where he spent five years, switching to his current club, Suntory Goliath in 2012, playing his first season under Eddie Jones' coaching before the former Wallabies boss moved into the Japan national coaching role.

In both 2012 and 2013, Ono was named in the Top League team of the season.

He has challenged himself on the field and becomes the seasons top point scorer so far with 78 points.
