The Stormers built up an 18-0 lead with two tries and two penalties, but the Reds responded with a try just before the break to trail 18-7 at halftime. The Reds got off to the perfect start in the second half, with their second try closing the gap to just four points. The Stormers hit back with their third try to take control of the match at 25-14. The Reds would not go down without a fight as they broke from their own line in the final minute to score, with time for a restart. The Reds had a chance to sneak it at the death, but it was not to be as the Stormers secured a six point victory.
