The Hurricanes cruised to a 43-13 home win over the Brumbies in round 3 of Super Rugby. The Hurricanes crossed for two early tries for a 14-0 lead, but the Brumbies hit back with their first try and added a penalty to reduce the deficit to six points. The Hurricanes went over for their third try 5 minutes from halftime to take a 19-8 advantage into the break. The Hurricanes slotted an early second half penalty before cutting loose with two quick tries to storm into a 36-8 lead heading into the final quarter of the match. The Brumbies were reduced to 14 players after picking up a yellow card, but despite their numerical disadvantage went over for their second try. The Hurricanes would have the final say however, scoring their sixth try with the last play of the game to seal an emphatic victory.
